The Student Body and Friends of Portola are sponsoring a Scary Movie Contest!
To participate in the contest, you must fill out the form and submit your registration by October 16th. All contest rules must be followed or you will be disqualified. Submissions will be judged by character art specialist, Matt Winston, of The Stan Winston School for Character Arts. Rules: The movie must be SCARY. The movie can be a comedy, romance, or drama... but must have scary undertones. The movie must be 3 minutes in length. Any film over 3 minutes, 30 seconds will be disqualified. The movie must be able to be shown on a computer and submitted in the form of a DVD or Flash Drive. The movie can be made by an individual or a group of students. All participants must fill out a permission form (see attached). Please staple group submissions together. Date of Film Submission: Tuesday, October 16th (to the main office) Date of Movie Screening: Tuesday, October 23rd at 6:00pm Tickets for friends and family will be available for purchase on the day of the event. Hey Magnet families- picking up today and want an easy dinner or a late lunch? Grab a pizza (or they have a ton of other things on the menu) and let them know you are there supporting Friends of Portola! What a yummy way to support Portola Middle School!
Seventh and Eighth Grade parents: a reminder that tomorrow the Girls in Science & Technology (GIST) club will start at 3:15 in room 156. The club is for BOTH GIRLS & BOYS and is open to 7th & 8th graders. If you are interested, please stop by at the magnet office to pick up an application.
