Portola Highly Gifted Magnet students may go on a wide variety of field trips that further expand upon and enrich the subjects that they are learning about in school. Trip locations may change from year to year based on teacher curriculum. Previous trips included:

OVERNIGHT FIELD TRIPS
Each year, Portola MPA overnight field trips for our students over a weekend during the school year. Past trips have included Pali Camp, Astrocamp, and California Island Marine Institute. Please be aware that these trips were organized byt the Magnet Parents Association, not LAUSD, and no teachers from the magnet attended these trips. Cost of the trip covers camp fee, insurance, and transportation from/to Portola Middle School, and ranged from $400-$450 per student.

In previous years, 7th and 8th grade students have been offered the opportunity to go on a field trip to Washington, D.C., Gettysburg, VA, and Hershey, PA, organized by WorldStrides.
