The Portola music program has a new piano thanks to a donation from the Magnet Parents Association - sadly the old one was worn out beyond repair. Our student is enjoying the new sound!
We recently learned that one of our students, Hana C., received a Gold Key Award in the 2018 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards for her painting, "Everyone Is Equal." She also received a Notable Submission Award for her piece "Ocean Through Filtered Camera" in the Bow Seat Ocean Awareness International Art Contest. Congratulations Hana!
Monday, June 4 is a regular dismissal at 3:00 pm. It will be Locker Clean Out for all students, so consider sending them with a bag to bring home any personal items. Yearbooks will also be distributed in homerooms.
We also have Ms. Fisk Dance Class Performances in the MPR at 7:30 pm, please join us. Tuesday, June 5 is 1:29 pm dismissal. For eligible 8th grade students, we will be hosting the annual 8th grade picnic from 1:30 to 3:30 pm on the PE Field. Wednesday, June 6 is a minimum day with 12:47 pm dismissal. Our Highly Gifted Magnet Culmination is at 11:00 am in the MPR. Thursday, June 7 is the last day of school and a minimum day with 12:47 pm dismissal. Don't forget to come to Ultrazone from 4-8pm for Last Day of School Laser Tag! Friday, June 8th is a Pupil Free Day (translation: Summer Break begins!) Other reminders: Monday, June 11th Math placement test for incoming 6th graders 9am Band & Orchestra auditions for incoming students (by appt. only) 8th Grade Grads go to Disneyland. We enjoyed some wonderful performances by our magnet students last week in Portola's annual Spring Concerts!
