The Magnet Parents Association (MPA) welcomes donations year round to help our students succeed. In order to maintain and develop our unique and outstanding program, we rely on your generous donations. Portola Magnet Program for Academic Excellence is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (Federal Tax ID # 95-4207868).
For our school to continue to be a beacon for highly gifted students and provide them with a program where they are challenged, stimulated and nurtured, we need your donations to fund the educational tools that are NOT provided by the district.
Fill out the Online Pledge Form or send a donation check to school using a printed copy of this pledge form (PDF).
When you give to the MPA, your tax-deductible donations are used to fund:
The MPA is asking each family to donate a minimum of $650, to directly benefit your child this school year. No gift is too small, and any amount is appreciated. - Day Field Trips to cultural and academic institutions around Los Angeles
- Academic Competitions such as Math Counts, Battle of the Books, History Day LA, Spelling Bee
- Science Materials and Supplies & Science Fairs
- High School level books, literature books and common core material and classroom textbook sets
- A full-time Aide to assist HGM students
- Funding for classroom materials and teacher professional development

As a thank you for your generosity, all donations of $300 will receive a HGM car magnet, $650 a HGM water bottle & car magnet and our $1000 Rock Star donors receive a HGM water bottle, car magnet & free yearbook. In addition, donate by October 31, 2019 to be entered into our Giving Fund Raffle.

ralph's cardEnroll and Re-Enroll your Ralphs Reward card EVERY SEPTEMBER and a percentage of your grocery spending goes to Portola Magnet. You can link your Rewards card to Portola Highly Gifted following these steps:
Register (or login, if you already have a Ralph's account) online here. Go to Community Rewards under My Account, click on the "Enroll" button. In the search box, type in "93761" (Portola Highly Gifted Magnet's Organization number), or enter "Portola Highly Gifted Magnet". Select it and double check and make sure Portola Highly Gifted Magnet shows up in your Account Summary page under the Community Rewards section in the bottom. Please note that Ralphs requires the customers to re-enroll on an annual basis. If you have previously enrolled, but it has been a while, it does not hurt to check and to make sure that you still have Portola Highly Gifted identified in your Community Rewards section of your account summary page. |
