The Magnet Parents Association (MPA) welcomes donation year round to help our students succeed. In order to maintain and develop our unique and outstanding program, we rely on your generous donations. For our school to continue to be a beacon for highly gifted students and provide them with a program where they are challenged, stimulated and nurtured, we need your donations to fund the educational tools that are NOT provided by the district.

Fill out the Online Pledge Form or send a donation check to school using a printed copy of this pledge form (PDF).
Donate by October 31st to be entered into the Magnet Homeroom Competition. The homeroom with the highest percentage of families donating will win a Lunchtime Pizza Party. In addition, you will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win 2 guest passes (for up to 6 guests each) to The Academy of Magical Arts at The Magic Castle in Hollywood.
When you give to the MPA, your tax-deductible donations are used to fund:
We are asking each family to donate $650. No gift is too small, and any amount is appreciated. Of course, please consider giving more if you are able. Our goal is 100% participation and installment plans via PayPal are available, please contact the Treasurers at [email protected].

- One-Day Field Trips to cultural and academic institutions around Los Angeles
- Academic Competitions such as Math Counts, Battle of the Books, Spelling Bee
- Chromebooks in classrooms
- Supplies for science experiments and science fairs
- High School level books, literature books and common core material and classroom textbook sets so that students do not have to carry heavy books
- A full-time Teacher Aide for the Magnet office and classrooms to assist in the classrooms and Magnet Office
- Funding for classroom materials and professional development

- HGM Rock Star $1000 or above will receive a car magnet, a Portola MPA Baseball Hat, and a Yearbook.
- Sustaining Sponsor >= $650 will receive a car magnet and a Portola MPA Baseball Hat
- Basic Sponsor >= $250 will receive a Portola MPA Baseball Hat
Give to Portola MPA via PayPal Giving Fund without transaction fees! Please note that payments for overnight field trips and enrichment classes are not tax-deductible, hence are not eligible for PayPal Giving Fund. You will receive a donation acknowledgement letter via email from PayPal Giving Fund directly.
ralph's cardEnroll and Re-Enroll your Ralphs Reward card EVERY SEPTEMBER and a percentage of your grocery spending goes to Portola Magnet. You can link your Rewards card to Portola Highly Gifted following these steps:
Register (or login, if you already have a Ralph's account) online here. Go to Community Rewards under My Account, click on the "Enroll" button. In the search box, type in "93761" (Portola Highly Gifted Magnet's Organization number), or enter "Portola Highly Gifted Magnet". Select it and double check and make sure Portola Highly Gifted Magnet shows up in your Account Summary page under the Community Rewards section in the bottom. Please note that Ralphs requires the customers to re-enroll on an annual basis. If you have previously enrolled, but it has been a while, it does not hurt to check and to make sure that you still have Portola Highly Gifted identified in your Community Rewards section of your account summary page. |
